Hiked-It

Terms of use

Last updated October 5, 2026

Welcome to Hiked-It. These terms are an agreement between you and Hiked-It about using the website and app. By creating an account or using Hiked-It, you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Hiked-It.

Trail safety comes first

Hiking has real risks, including injury, getting lost, wildlife, weather and difficult terrain. Trail information on Hiked-It — maps, routes, distances, elevation, difficulty, conditions, reviews and photos — comes from OpenStreetMap, other public data and other hikers. It can be incomplete, out of date or wrong.

Use it as a starting point, not a guarantee. Check official sources and current conditions, follow posted rules and closures, carry the right gear, and use your own judgment. You hike at your own risk.

Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
  • Give accurate information, and keep your password secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.
  • One person per account. Don't impersonate anyone or create accounts to get around a suspension.
  • You can delete your account at any time in Settings.

Your content

You own the hikes, reviews, comments and photos you post. By posting public content, you give Hiked-It a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, resize and share it as part of running and promoting Hiked-It. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people have already shared or that remain briefly in backups.

Only post content you have the right to share. You're responsible for what you post, including that your photos don't infringe anyone else's rights.

Community guidelines

Hiked-It works because hikers help each other. Please don't:

  • Harass, threaten, bully or post hateful content about anyone.
  • Post spam, ads or misleading content, including fake reviews or made-up trail conditions.
  • Post sexual, violent or otherwise inappropriate content, or other people's private information.
  • Encourage dangerous or illegal activity, such as trespassing, going off-trail where it's prohibited, or damaging natural areas.
  • Post content you don't have the rights to.
  • Scrape, overload, hack or interfere with Hiked-It, or use it for anything illegal.

You can report content that breaks these rules using the report button next to it.

Disclaimers and limits of liability

Hiked-It is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including that the information is accurate or that the service will always be available or error-free.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Hiked-It and the people who run it are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any injury, loss or damage that results from using Hiked-It, relying on its information, or hiking any trail. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
